Stephanie Hess – OpenEd Community Service program
In honor of Stephanie Hess (1966-2020)
Stephanie was one of the original OpenEd employees and was a great example of leadership, kindness, and service to all. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 18, 2020, after a courageous and graceful 8-year battle against ovarian cancer. We’d like to honor her legacy through our “Stephanie Hess – OpenEd Community Service Program.”
Program Overview
We believe that families and local communities form the foundation upon which we can each build an engaging, meaningful life. As such, the Stephanie Hess – OpenEd Community Service program focuses on the following:
- Inspire young people in the OpenEd program to identify practical solutions to real challenges in their local community.
- Provide financial support to youth-led community service projects that will impact the lives of everyone involved.
- Create an opportunity for youth leaders to report on their efforts and celebrate the difference they are making in their communities.
Watch our 2021 Highlight video, where we raised and distributed nearly $6,000!
How can I get involved?
1) Submit a proposal that includes the who, what, when, where, why, how, etc., and the financial support you would need to make it come to life. We are looking for projects that will benefit as many people as possible in your local community. Once the project is complete, the youth leader will be asked to share a report about their service experience, including a written summary with photos and/or videos.
Submit a plan here by March 1, 2024.
2) Help us celebrate the positive impact young people all over Utah are making in honor of Stephanie by watching the highlight videos!
